Dennis Jansen was quoted in a story on the 2026 economic outlook for Bryan-College Station that aired on December 29, 2025 on KBTX.
As 2025 comes to a close, we turn to forecasts about what we can expect in 2026. Jansen said, “[The Bureau of Labor Statistics] think[s] that GDP next year will grow at 2.4% over the year,” said Jansen.
“So that’s a little bit higher than this year. They think the unemployment rate will end up at the end of next year being 4.4%. And since it’s currently 4.6%, they think the unemployment rate will tick down a couple of tenths of a percent. And they think the inflation rate will slow to 2.4%.”
If actual measures fall in line with these forecasts, consumers and small businesses alike will both benefit from these positive forecasts.
