On January 7, 2025, KBTX interviewed Dennis Jansen as part of a story on people moving to College Station.

U-Haul publishes the U-Haul growth data index, which ranks the destination cities with the highest number of one-way movers. College Station ranked sixth highest in 2024.

Jansen described possible economic motivations behind the high ranking, “Most of the migration to College Station is younger people; it’s students. It’s an international migration, it’s not retired people. These are people coming here for jobs. One of the reasons people are moving to Texas; it’s jobs. The economy here is doing well.”

“Texas is growing faster than the US,” Jansen insisted. “I think if you look pre-COVID, the US population has grown 2%. Texas has grown about 5%, and areas in Texas like our local county, Brazos County, has grown almost 6 and two-thirds percent.”
