The Business-Cycle Index increased by 0.8% from October to November 2021. The local unemployment rate decreased to 3.9% in November from 4.0% in October. Local nonfarm employment increased slightly by 0.4% in November and was 3.2% lower than its pre- pandemic high in February 2020. Local real taxable sales increased 2.3% from October to November 2021 and were 18.1% higher than the same month in 2020. Real Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the College Station-Bryan MSA shrank 1.4% in 2020 due to the pandemic recession, but it has doubled in size since 2001.
