Dr. Jansen and Dr. Rettenmaier Present at Brazos Valley Business Summit

Summary:
PERC Director Dennis Jansen, along with Executive Associate Director Andrew Rettenmaier gave a presentation to attendees of the Brazos Valley Business Summit on Thursday, September 26, 2019.

The presentation explained the economic measures used to estimate the Business-Cycle Index, which is part of the monthly publication Economic Indicators.  The presentation compared the Business-Cycle index to other, less timely data sources summarizing the local economy. The local index was also used to illustrate how the local economy’s growth stacks up against that of Texas, the nation, and other Texas metro areas.

The presentation also covered the special focus topic in each monthly Economic Indicators from the past year. The focus topics highlight a subject related to the College Station-Bryan area. Topics included the housing market, industry employment, the hotel market, local GDP, poverty, enrollment, taxes and more. The presentation was also noted in an article covering the event in The Eagle newspaper that was published on Friday, September 27, 2019.
