Distinguished Alumnus Award Bestowed on PERC Board Member Willie T. Langston

Summary: Willie T. Langston, a member of PERC’s Board of Directors, has been honored by the Association of Former Students and Texas A&M University with the Distinguished Alumnus Award. The award is given to Aggies who have excelled in their chosen profession and made lasting contributions to their local communities and Texas A&M University.
Langston graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University in 1981, worked for the firm Coopers & Lybrand, then attended Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, where he received his MBA. He worked for Goldman Sachs’ Private Wealth Management Division and Morgan Stanley before founding Avalon Advisors, LLC in 2001, where he is the current executive vice chairman.
Langston has a long history of service to the Aggie community that continues to the present day. He has served as an outside investment advisor to the Texas A&M Foundation, is a former trustee of the 12th Man Foundation, supported the Mays Family Foundation Building Expansion Fund, and created multiple fellowships, endowments and scholarship funds to provide for future Aggies.
Along with serving on PERC’s Board since 2010, Langston is currently a Board Member of Breakaway Ministries, is on the Mays Business School Dean’s Advisory Board, and is Chairman of the Deacons at Second Baptist Church of Houston.
